In this video, we’ll discuss the YouTube Promotions tab and whether this feature is actually worth it. With promotions, you can advertise videos directly through YouTube. YouTube creates a campaign in the background to bring viewers to your video.
Important note: Promotion does not replace good content. If your thumbnail, title, or video aren’t effective, paid reach won’t automatically solve the problem. While it may drive additional views, viewers still need to engage with the video and channel.
The Promotions tab can be useful when you have a clear goal in mind, such as boosting a specific video, accompanying a channel launch, or testing how a topic resonates with new audiences. However, it’s less effective to simply spend money and hope for long-term growth.
Pay close attention to targeting, budget, and evaluation. Look beyond views to factors like watch time, audience retention, and whether viewers go on to watch more content or subscribe to the channel.
My conclusion: YouTube Promotions can be a tool, but it’s not a substitute for strategy. Use it strategically, test small budgets, and honestly assess whether the promoted viewers truly align with your channel.
