Hey Creators, let’s analyze the initial weeks of autodubbing data. To be honest, when autodubbing first launched, I was quite skeptical. I didn’t think automated voiceovers of subpar quality would generate much engagement. However, the real-world data tells a different story.
As you know, we consult a portfolio of over 50 channels, ranging from a dozen subscribers to 750,000. We examined channels that had early access to autodubbing before its official launch and those that have used it for the past week since its release. Our primary focus was on the average view duration for both the original and translated versions, as well as the percentage of the video watched in each language.
For now, we’ll concentrate on long-form videos (7-20 minutes) as we have the most data in this category. We’ll likely do an update later with more insights on both long-form and short-form videos. From our initial analysis, native audiences watched approximately 40-45% of the video, while international viewers watched 50-55% on average—a 10% increase in audience retention.
This indicates that autodubbing is more than a checkbox feature; it’s driving genuine international engagement, which I find quite surprising. If you’re a YouTube creator considering autodubbing, I encourage you to give it a try. It requires no extra work from you. Test it out for a few months to see how it performs. Since YouTube is still rolling it out and actively promoting it, you might notice an increase in impressions and views.
Initially, I believed autodubbing was of very low quality and wouldn’t offer any benefits; I was eagerly awaiting the launch of multil-language audio, which allows you to upload your own voice track in a second language—something programs handle excellently. But the data suggests that autodubbing is already providing a significant improvement.
Please remember, this is a small dataset, and we’re still gathering more information. We’re also seeking creators willing to share anonymous performance data as part of the KW Media portfolio. If you’re interested, consider booking a KW Media YouTube consultation. This will provide personalized insights for your channel and help us expand our dataset.
Thanks for watching! If you’d like tailored feedback or want to know how autodubbing could enhance your channel, feel free to reach out via our website or the YouTube Gaming Discord. We’ll be back next week with more YouTube updates. Take care!
