YouTube Updates: AI Age Verification, AutoDubbing Editor Improvements, and Community Post Changes
Edit autodub videos with trimmed sections in YouTube Studio. Include 10 images in Community Posts. Learn about AI age verification impact on creators.
Transcript
Editing autodub videos is now available in YouTube Studio Editor. You can trim the beginning, middle, or end of your video if you wish, and it will regenerate the autodubbed audio track to match your adjustments, ensuring no overlap. For manually dubbed videos, this feature will launch later this year, and you’ll need to upload a new audio track for editing.
To clarify, we don’t yet know when manually dubbed tracks will be accessible to all creators. As a reminder, autodubbing is available to everyone in the YouTube Partner Program. Feel free to explore it and ask any questions you may have in the comments below.
Moving on to YouTube Community Posts, there’s an upgrade! You can now include 10 images per post instead of the previous limit of 5. So, when planning your next community posts, remember you can upload up to 10 images.
YouTube Promote also received a small update. While I still believe Google Ads offers more control and precision for campaign creation and management, YouTube Promote now allows you to advertise a website with Google Ads call-to-actions like “Call Now,” “Book Now,” or “More Information.” However, remember that the quality of your content matters; if it’s poor, you won’t see many conversions, regardless of the advertising platform.
Now, let’s address the elephant in the room: YouTube’s Age (AA) Verification and its US rollout. It launched on August 13, 2025, in the US, but it’s been in place for the EU since September 2020, providing five years of successful experience so far.
Here’s how it works: YouTube AI estimates a user’s age based on their viewing history, search queries, account longevity, regardless of the stated birth date. This means that if you’re detected as under 18, you won’t receive personalized ads, and digital well-being tools will be enabled by default (though you can turn them off). There are also recommendation safeguards against problematic content that could distort body image, for example.
For creators, if you’re identified as under 18, your uploads will be private by default, but you can make them public. This ensures you can’t accidentally upload something inappropriate.
YouTube Updates: Impact on Creator Revenue and New Features
In this video, we discuss the recent changes to YouTube’s age verification process and how they might affect creators’ revenue.
Privacy and Public Access
Initially, your content will be private, and you’ll need to make a conscious decision to make it public. This is a positive step in my view.
Earning Gifts on Vertical Live Stream
You’ll have limited capabilities to earn gifts during vertical live streams, but this feature is currently only available in the US. To take advantage of this, your account must be linked to a guardian or parent, which means it will fall under the 18+ category. Therefore, the potential decrease in earnings may not be significant.
Impact on Creator Revenue for Those Over 18
There might be a minor revenue decrease for creators over 18 due to some viewers being categorized as under 18, resulting in non-personalized ads. However, YouTube assures that the impact will be minimal, and our initial data supports this claim. Age reports and YouTube Analytics will soon reflect these AI-driven estimates. Remember, this change only affects US viewers, so if only a portion of your audience is from the US, only their demographics will be adjusted.
Tasks for Creators:
-
Monitor Your Demographics: Keep track of your viewer demographics over the next few weeks and note any changes. Share your channel’s category and the distribution of your audience before and after August 13th, especially if you’re affected by age verification.
-
Utilize Community Posts: With the new 10-image limit for community posts, consider how you can integrate this feature into your content strategy. Share your ideas or post your community updates and let me know!
Thanks for watching! Stay tuned for more YouTube updates next week. See you then!
