YouTube Updates This Week: Let’s dive right into YouTube Analytics. Previously, there was a “Research” tab which has now been renamed to the “Inspiration” tab and brings with it two new features—or rather, an experiment: a feature called “Ideas & Outlines.” Essentially, this is an expansion of the already existing Content Gap feature. YouTube looks at the content you upload and provides recommendations for what else you could upload. “Ideas & Outlines” additionally gives you a few bullet points to help you create a red thread for your video. Technically, this feature is being rolled out for all creators, but in practice, the UK, Switzerland, EU, and India are left out due to stricter AI regulations. However, Creator Insider has confirmed that they aim to bring this feature to these markets soon as well.
Staying in the Inspiration tab: There’s now also the “Breakout Videos” feature. This means videos from channels producing similar content to yours that have performed well. In my experience, this doesn’t work so well. For instance, we got inspiration for this channel from a creator who mainly focuses on beef drama content and other creators, the creator, and streamer scene. That’s not what we do, even though we discuss YouTubers and the YouTube scene. So, I find that a bit of a stretch.
Then, there was a suggestion regarding open source—yes, it’s an open-source news video. This is actually a more relevant topic since we also cover OBS and Audacity, but it’s still not our main focus. Accordingly, it’s challenging. The third suggestion was a reuse content video from India—but we’ve already covered reuse content one or two weeks ago. So, I’m not sure—it’s not exactly inspiring when you suggest something I’ve already done. Feel free to let me know your thoughts in the comments. For us, it didn’t quite fit, and I don’t know anyone who has been able to use these breakout videos effectively so far.
Additionally: When you click on “Show,” some finance videos appear—we have clients in that field, but that’s not something we do on our channel or have ever done. And YouTube monetization and stock videos are two completely different topics. So, these aren’t videos from channels similar to ours. That’s what I want to say. As mentioned, I’m not a fan of it—feel free to share your thoughts in the comments.
Last week, I teased that a video was coming—or rather, two videos were coming. They are still on the schedule. YouTube pushed back the date, and I can’t say more about it yet, but hopefully, the videos will be released soon. The videos are already on the channel; they just need to go live. So, it requires a bit more patience, and I believe everyone will understand that. And we’ll all celebrate when they’re out!
Well, thank you very much for joining me. See you next week. Take care until then and keep going!
