YouTube Update: Expanded Language Support for @ Handles and New Special Characters

YouTube now supports letters and digits in 75 languages for @handles, with some character length changes. New special characters also allowed.

Transcript

@handles now support letters and numbers in a total of 75 different languages. However, there are a few changes: instead of 30 characters, only 20 or 10 characters are now allowed for the Arabic, Ethiopian, Hiragana, and Katakana alphabets. You can find more information about this in the video description. Additionally, there are new special characters: underscores, hyphens, periods, and Latin interpuncts are now also permitted. I didn’t even know about the latter until my research for this video, but apparently they’re already in use. You can now use them in your handles.

Let’s take a look at the news from the past week: Jump Ahead for premium users is now 100% available on Android devices. This means that if you’re a premium customer and own an Android device, you can now use the Jump Ahead feature - not just in the US, but worldwide. Test & Compare, or A/B testing of thumbnails, is also now unlocked with advanced features for 100% of Creators. Check to see if you have these features enabled. If not, that’s why you can’t use thumbnail testing.
