The YouTube free hype beta is expanding into the EU and a few other countries. I’ve listed them on the site. Not all users will see the new hype button, but everyone should be able to view their regional hype leaderboard. Here’s how you can access it—it’s quite hidden, similar to the training page at present.
Unless most of your audience understands what the hype button does and actively uses the hype leaderboard, I don’t think you’ll gain much from the hype feature. It’s more of a nice-to-have, but it doesn’t impact video searchability or discoverability, so it’s not crucial. Additionally, as of now, paid hype features aren’t allowed in the EU, so you can’t monetize it.
So, it’s… eh. I don’t think it’s a huge deal, but if you feel differently, please comment below. Let me know if you like or dislike the hype feature, and we can discuss it.
Regarding paid features, YouTube membership badges now support up to 10 years—that’s 120 months. It’s quite a long time for someone to pay for your content. We actually have viewers getting close to that mark; for instance, Ken on my gaming channel has supported me for over 90 months. He was one of the first German viewers to gain access to memberships, so a big shout-out and thank you to him!
If you want to recognize those who’ve supported you for this long, you can now upload an anniversary badge for the 10-year anniversary. Some suggestions for what we could do to celebrate the 10-year mark on this channel or my gaming channel would be welcome—comment below, and I’ll happily consider them.
If you’d like to support us, feel free to subscribe (it’s free!), and if you want to become a member, we’d be honored to offer you exclusive content. If you have any questions about today’s topics or other YouTube-related subjects, comment below. See you next week for more YouTube discussions!
Take care, bye-bye!
