YouTube Updates:

This week, we start with a new playlist feature called Playlist Voting. It’s turned off by default, and creators can enable it only in the YouTube main app (not on desktop or in YouTube Studio). They can choose to allow voting from either everyone, only collaborators, or no one. Collaborators are individuals invited to contribute videos to the playlist.

Once set up, eligible accounts (collaborators or everyone, depending on the creator’s choice) can cast one vote each. If you’d like more information on this feature, please leave a comment below.

I think it’s a great addition, beneficial for both viewers and creators. It could be used for collaborative playlists, like music for car rides, or for contests, like Minecraft building challenges, where users can vote on the best video.

Please share your thoughts on this feature! Now, let’s move on to the next experiment:

Last year, YouTube introduced A/B testing for thumbnails. Many creators requested a similar feature for titles, and currently, an experiment is underway (still in a very early alpha stage). I’ve seen some experimental screenshots, but the creator asked me to redact their title, so the source remains anonymous.

This new feature allows you to enter up to three variations of a title, three thumbnails (as with the existing thumbnail A/B testing), or a combination of three titles and three thumbnails. This raises interesting questions about autodubbing and auto-translations for titles and descriptions. Since titles are limited to around 100 characters, translating multiple variations shouldn’t be too challenging.

I’m curious to see if this feature increases impressions, decreases them, or impacts accuracy. We’ll have to wait and see how it develops.

Don’t forget to subscribe to stay updated on this feature and all other creator-focused updates. Please share your thoughts on A/B testing for titles – would you use it?

I’ll keep you informed as always. Thanks for watching, and see you next week for more YouTube updates!
