This tutorial shows how to use YouTube Live’s Take a Break feature and how to set it up with OBS. The feature lets you temporarily show a break screen during a livestream without ending the stream itself. In YouTube Studio, open the livestream settings and look for the Take a Break option. Prepare the break screen you want viewers to see. In OBS, create a dedicated scene for the break, add the graphics or text you need, and make sure the audio setup matches what you want during the pause.
When you need the break, switch to the prepared scene and activate the feature in YouTube Studio. Viewers stay on the stream and understand that the show is paused intentionally. When you are ready to continue, switch back to your main scene and resume the livestream.
The important part is preparation. Set up the scene before going live, test the transition, and make sure the break screen is clear. That way, a short pause looks professional instead of like a technical problem.
