The mobile studio is being cleaned up: The “Content” tab is being adjusted and now offers “Shelves” with all formats. There is still the list view, which can be selected via “View All”. Scheduled content will only be displayed if there is any. Meaningful performance data will be shown below the content itself, and the monetization and visibility status will only be displayed in case of problems or non-public content - but also in the classic list view, as already known. The rollout is expected to take place in the coming weeks, so check if your Studio app needs an update!
Staying in YouTube Studio, one or two tabs to the right: There you will find the comments tab, which is being renamed to the “Community” tab. Why this change? Probably because they need space for Community Posts and Fan Communities, so these will now be consolidated under the Community tab.
There is a renaming to “Community”, displaying the number of comments and returning viewers - a useful metric to see who is active with you, how many people are active, and how many return regularly. “Community Spotlights” highlights the most active and engaged viewers, similar to top commenters with many hearts already. These viewers will receive a small badge next to their name.
AI-generated comment suggestions in the style and tone of the creator are set to be rolled out to a small group before becoming available to everyone in the coming months. It was not clear whether this only affects English comments or if other languages are supported, so we’ll have to wait and see if it comes to German as well.
The AI video summary will be made available to more users worldwide due to feedback - but only for selected English-language videos, not German-language ones. Creators can continue to write their own description, and the AI is meant to complement it. There is no opt-out: If you have English-language content and the AI captures your video, it may happen that it writes nonsense that you cannot object to. I don’t like this mandatory change.
In Studio Desktop, there is the option to write to Creator Support. Instead of being directly forwarded to an employee, you will first be presented with a KI bot that compiles help articles for you. Is this useful? Maybe the bot can find exactly the help articles you need, as information is sometimes not where you expect it to be. I have mixed feelings about this and think that an interactive chatbot is not the right solution here. Instead, employees should be properly trained.
Of course, you can also ask me in the comments or as a customer, and I’ll tell you more about YouTube. I’m sitting on my high horse here and saying: I know more than the chatbot!
Finally, we looked at the rolling-out Super Chat Goals. Thank you for that!
YouTube Updates: Super Chat Goals
At this point, I have already enabled the feature and we conducted a small test stream to see how everything works. Creating a goal is quite simple: You just click on the symbol in the live stream or live chat and can then choose whether you want to set a target of 5 or 50 Super Chats. Everything is pretty straightforward here as well.
You can specify which levels of Super Chats should count towards the goal. To be honest, I don’t understand why they designed it this way. I mean, if we have a Super Chat goal with a certain amount, shouldn’t it be irrelevant how that amount is reached? In any case, you can select which Super Chat levels should count. Finally, you name the goal - whether you draw inspiration from the suggestions or write something of your own is, of course, up to you.
But it wouldn’t be a typical YouTube patch rundown if I didn’t complain about something. Because as an editor or manager of a channel, especially in a brand channel with multiple people, you are not allowed to create goals - only the channel owner can do that. That’s fantastic! Chat moderators, super moderators, or whatever they are called, are also excluded. That’s absolute nonsense! It just doesn’t make sense to me why someone who is authorized to create and delete content on the channel doesn’t have the right to create a goal. As a manager, I can even manage AdSense settings and decide where the money goes, but I’m not allowed to create a Super Chat Goal? That’s incomprehensible to me.
So, if the channel owner has set up the goal, it will look like this. I’m curious what your first Super Chat Goals will be and what target you’ll set first. Let’s discuss! I think improvements are needed here.
Until next week for more YouTube updates! Take care and keep going!
