Let's talk about the recent YouTube updates. First things first: money.

Let’s talk about the recent YouTube updates. First things first: money. Or rather, a lack thereof. On July 29th and 30th, between 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM Pacific Time, there were issues with ad serving for newly uploaded videos and ad reporting for all videos. Both bugs have now been fixed. While the ad revenue for new videos published during this time is lost, as no ads were served, the revenue for older videos, Shorts, and YouTube Premium earnings remained unaffected.
The collaboration feature, which has been around for a while, is now live on YouTube. In simple terms, one creator uploads a video, invites others to collaborate via a link, and the video appears on all collaborators’ channels and subscription feeds. However, it’s unclear whether views and revenue are shared among all creators or only with the original uploader. We’ve reached out to YouTube for clarification but haven’t heard back yet.
To align the YouTube Studio mobile app with the desktop version, the playlist tab has been updated. You can now filter by description and visibility, and view the total number of views for a playlist.
Staying in YouTube Studio, if you have more than two posts, the post shelf will automatically appear on your channel page in the bottom row. You can customize this layout via the customization tab in Studio.
Moving on to Fan Communities: community posts can now receive hearts, similar to comments. If you have any YouTube-related questions or issues, please leave a comment or post in our community, including a screenshot if possible, so we can address them in future videos.
Lastly, the profanity rules update is now live for all creators. You can use swear words in the first 7 seconds of a video without affecting monetization, but swearing in titles and thumbnails may still result in limited monetization.
That’s it for this week’s YouTube creator updates. Don’t forget to subscribe to stay informed, and I’ll see you next Saturday!
