This week, there’s a small update regarding the “Replace Music” feature in YouTube Studio. This is particularly useful if you’ve received a copyright claim. Usually, your options there are to mute the video, which is not ideal, or remove the song so only the vocals remain. You can also replace the music piece. Previously, you could do this manually by using titles from the YouTube Audio Library. For all titles in this library, you already have a license, so feel free to check it out, even if the pieces aren’t chart-toppers. It’s helpful to use these as all rights are already cleared.

Back to the topic: The actual change to this feature involves the addition of an AI component. YouTube’s AI will now suggest ten songs you could use. I think this could be a sensible idea. However, we’re all conscientious Creators here and don’t even get into this situation because we take care of our copyright claims in advance and thus avoid such issues.

Feel free to let me know in the comments if you’ve ever used this feature, if you’ve already replaced a song in one of your YouTube videos, and how well it worked out. Maybe you’d like to try out the new feature or are interested but don’t want to risk a copyright claim. Let’s discuss!

Until next week’s update, stay healthy and active!
