Video titles for Justin have just appeared out of nowhere and been released. Doesn’t look too surprising, I didn’t know about it either. What we have here, in my opinion, is a very interesting tool. However, we should quickly clarify what it’s about, based on the transcript and video description of English-language videos. YouTube now suggests three title ideas. That means when you upload a video, once the transcript and description are created, YouTube says, “I understand what this video is about. How about this title?” Basically a good thing.

However, YouTube also emphasizes that they don’t want to be held responsible if nonsensical content is suggested. Therefore, both in the briefing from, for example, Creator Insider Alba, and in the YouTube Help Center, it’s stated that the use of automatically generated titles is subject to the Community Guidelines. That means if nonsensical content is suggested and you use it, you as the Creator are responsible and can be penalized for violating the Community Guidelines. Just because YouTube suggests it, you don’t have to use it. That’s YouTube’s legal stance.

In my opinion, that makes it rather difficult. For me, it would be better to leave everything as it is, as there’s a risk of the channel being terminated. What this means for us is that there’s likely an integration between YouTube and Bard, which is basically Google’s ChatGPT. The transcript and video description are sent there with the request to generate a suitable YouTube title. Bard analyzes it and sends back three suggestions.

In summary: Currently, you can also do this for German-language content. You need to manually pull the script or, if you created it yourself, you already have it. Take the video description and input everything into ChatGPT: “Generate five video title suggestions for the following.” Again, make sure to adhere to the Community Guidelines, as you can’t just publish nonsensical content on your channel.

Currently, this is probably more useful for German Creators who create content in English first and then translate it into German, rather than the other way around. However, it gets interesting when MLA (Multi Language Audio) is enabled. Then, it might make sense to choose English as the first language to get the transcript and description in English, resulting in better title suggestions from YouTube. These can then be translated, of course.

I believe that could be the crucial point. And you know we’d love to introduce MLA here on this channel. Once that happens, nothing will change for you. We’ll offer English as the first language and keep German as the second. To be honest, it’s a sensible approach, yes or no? I’d say yes, especially considering YouTube’s history of continually improving automatic thumbnail suggestions.

We’ve reached the point where you question whether it’s still worthwhile to create thumbnails manually, and now we’re at the same point with titles. YouTube can confidently say, “We know what people want to click on, and we can automatically derive that from the video data set in English and make corresponding suggestions.” Personally, I think it’s a good thing in principle. So just keep an eye on it.
