Expanded Shopping Options on YouTube: New Features for Creators

Discover YouTube's updated shopping features: Shopping Collections, Affiliate Hub, and new platform integrations.

YouTube Shopping is getting some updates: so-called Shopping Collections, which means a compilation of products from your own linked store or other stores. These will be displayed in the Shopping Shelf, which is located below the video or as a tab on the creator’s channel. In the US, creators can also join the Affiliate Hub. Previously, it was often criticized that tagged products in livestreams or videos did not generate revenue share. That changes now with the Affiliate Hub: There is a percentage share for the creator when products are purchased - standard affiliate stuff, as we all know. Importantly, at this point, creators can also receive free review copies or products to test depending on the campaign and the brand’s willingness.

I think this is an important step to prevent email scams, as it ensures that the creator linked to the channel is actually the one making the request. Unfortunately, we don’t know if and when the Affiliate Hub will expand beyond the US market, which I find a bit concerning and disappointing. I’ll keep you updated.

There’s also another small update in the Shopping area: Now it’s possible to link Shopify, Spreadshirt/Spreadshop, and Spring. In addition, there’s a fourth platform called Forth Wall, which also offers self-build online stores. More providers mean more competition on the market, which can generally revitalize business.

I’m currently preparing a topic video on “Reused Content.” If you have any questions about how to possibly avoid it or what falls under that category, feel free to write them in the comments, and I’ll answer them in the video.

Thank you for your attention! See you next week in another Q&A stream, which I’m really looking forward to. Until then: Take care and keep going!
