Hello and a very warm welcome to another video on my YouTube channel! Today, I want to talk to you about a topic that is very close to my heart: the future of sustainability in our industry. As creators, we have a huge responsibility when it comes to influencing our viewers and driving positive change.
Over the past few months, I’ve been thinking a lot about A/B testing and optimizing my channel. In doing so, I realized that we, as a creator community, could do so much more for environmental protection. We all know that YouTube is a massive platform, and our content reaches millions of people worldwide. Why don’t we use this reach to raise awareness for ecological issues?
I’ve come up with some ideas on how we, as creators, can take action:
- Sustainable Productions: We can apply more eco-friendly methods when creating our videos and live streams. For example, by using energy-efficient lighting, reusable props, and reducing plastic waste on set.
- Ecological Messages: In our videos, we can deliberately talk about sustainability topics and inform our viewers. Whether it’s recycling, climate change, or environmentally friendly alternatives - together, we can make a difference.
- Collaboration with Initiatives: There are numerous organizations and projects dedicated to environmental protection. We can collaborate with them to raise funds or use our reach to support their important work.
I strongly believe that we, as creators, have a powerful voice and can achieve great things together. Let’s seize this opportunity to drive positive change in the world!
What do you think about this topic? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments. And don’t forget to share this video with your friends to spread awareness for sustainability further.
Until next time!
YouTube Updates This Week
Voice Replies We’re launching Voice Replies for iOS in the US for English-language videos. The number of creators with access has quadrupled from 25 to 100, which is crazy growth! Android users will be added soon. As mentioned before, only the creator can create a voice message to prevent abuse. Personally, I’m not a big fan of Voice Replies, but I’d love to hear your opinions on them.
Multilingual Audio The original plan to introduce this feature by mid-December has been abandoned. The current plan is to roll it out monthly until 100% autodubbing is achieved by April. It’s being investigated whether the lack of an option to upload manually created audio tracks is a bug or a conscious decision by the team. Many creators are currently not enthusiastic about autodubbing. We’ll keep you updated as we learn more.
PIN Verification in Google AdSense Google has decided to change the verification method for creators in emerging and developing countries due to often problematic mail delivery there. Instead of sending a postcard with a PIN, creators can now verify their account with a selfie and their passport. This will initially be rolled out in 24 emerging markets. I find this method convenient on one hand, but on the other, you don’t want to share your passport everywhere. However, it might be a sensible alternative for those who don’t receive mail.
Fan Communities Fan Communities have been in testing since last year. They enable a two-way exchange between creators and fans. Community Posts are one-way, while Fan Communities allow both creators and fans to create posts, including images. This can be a great way to generate content but also carries the risk of abuse. Therefore, creators will receive moderation and control tools to manage the posts and remove unwanted content. The exact details of these tools are not yet known, which is problematic considering the upcoming rollout in a few weeks.
Getting Started and Notifications
If you already have access, you’ll receive a notification in YouTube Studio and an email. This way, you can take a first look at the new features. As soon as we have more information, we’ll of course take action and look forward to hearing your thoughts in posts and comments.
