If you’re excluded from the YouTube Partner Program, you’ve been able to appeal this decision for 7 days prior to its effective date since July 31st. Of course, your channel remains in the partner program until a decision is made on your appeal. This new option is initially being tested for only a small number of exclusion reasons. We’ll find out exactly which ones and check below in the comments if there are already any updates. If you file an appeal within these 7 days and it’s not accepted, your channel will be immediately removed from the partner program. However, you can then reapply as usual after 90 days. Yes, so as is always the case: if you don’t respond within the 7 days before exclusion, you still have 21 days to file an appeal afterwards - even if the channel has already been removed. This option is void if you’ve already filed an appeal within the first 7 days before exclusion. It’s exclusive: either file an appeal in the 7 days leading up to it or in the 21 days after. And again, if your appeal is not accepted, you’ll have another 90 days, or a 90-day lockout period, until you can apply again.
Channel pages are getting a revamp to improve navigation on channels with little content. The “Home” tab will be removed as the default setting if the Creator hasn’t customized it so far and has fewer than 10 videos in total or has not published more than one type of content. However, as a Creator, you can manually override this by going to “Customization” and then “Channel Layout.” In the future, it will be called “Customization,” or “Channel Customization,” and accordingly, the “Home” tab. Interestingly, branding and general information are being combined into the “Profile” tab. This means that in the future, you’ll be able to change your banner and profile under “Profile,” just like your channel description.
Oh, by the way, we also uncovered a small exploit in the YouTube area this week - it’s about the so-called Brand Connect Media Kit. If you haven’t watched the video yet, feel free to check it out. I’d say we’ll see you next Saturday for more YouTube news. Until then, take care and keep going!
