YouTube decides on an appeal within 14 days.
The exact deadline is shown in YouTube Studio under “Earn”, next to “Start appeal”.
Appeal or fix?
After a first rejection, a failed appeal costs time: you can only re-apply after 90 days instead of 30.
With gameplay without commentary, the earliest date is rarely the realistic one. In our experience it takes months of new videos where people can see or hear you.
Don’t delete anything before you’ve talked to an expert.
Deleting hurts before an appeal, because YouTube reviews your channel as it is now. And before re-applying, it matters which videos you change and how.
Checklist for your appeal video
- Under 5 minutes, a new upload, unlisted, on the channel you’re appealing for.
- No appeal info in the description.
- Your channel URL within the first 30 seconds.
- Refer to specific parts of the policies and back them up with examples from your channel.
- Talk about the channel as a whole, not just a few good videos.
- Show how you film and edit, on camera or as a voice-over.
Appeal videos must be narrated in Arabic, Bengali, English, French, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Thai, Turkish or Vietnamese. Otherwise YouTube accepts manually created English subtitles. In our experience, an English voice-over works much better.
Alternatively you can appeal through Creator Support in YouTube Studio, if it’s offered there.
